broken into again 2nd time within six months along with 5 other workshops at the same time mine done last and was the only 1 with an alarm broke open personel door ripped 2 alarm sirens of the wall 1 inside 1 outside kicked a door through went through varisous drawers and cupboards i got there 8 mins after the alarm contacted me and there was no sign of anyone.
so make sure your security is good they were after cash but after the safe was taken the first time i dont keep cash on the premises anymore so with any luck they wont try again.

times are hard enuf with out that craic starting, on the contary the best one going in ireland at the minute is to steel the farmers track machine or jcb track it into the town and rip an atm machine outta the wall, aw isnt it amazing how burglars will plan something like i would plan on fabricating something ?

Sorry to here that ! we were done once , nicked my little mig welder on a trolley with gas ( must of been two of them) and a box of spanners , my old man was upset about the spanners , he had them for years ! hope the damage dont cost you too much !

damage cost £88 in steel i now have a fully steel door frame and another £65 in a new alarm siren door lock and coach bolts not to bad but could have done without it.

i had one on me gate it went off one night and i got reported/ the old bill swiftly came round wanting to see me guns that were in cabinet as the prowler reported me. for shooting at them told em to f xxxxx k off and showed em the device quite legal: after sum huming and harring they left

we are all going to complain about security to the landlord or rather lack of it 20 or 30 bussinesses and if they dont act we are going to tell them wee will be looking for other premises thats 14 grand a month they will lose if we all move out.

My friend had a unit on an industrial estate with a back door onto the fields and he was broken into but they just messed the place up and stole a few tools. We made another door inside the outer from steel checker plate with a 75x5mm angle door frame and replaced the locks on the outer as well. They broke in through the outer again a couple of weeks later but they never tried again.

Security in domestic premises here is a big thing.........and most people put the doors on the outside! Much better to put it on the inside! By the time they break through outer and realise there is another to get through the alarm is ringing and the security guys on their way!

Having read the whole thread.
As well as putting the internal sterile space/door system have you thought of putting a simple notice on all outside doors in a heat sealed envelope , behind some clear perspex etc that says .....
" NO cash or electronic goods held in these premises ". or words to that effect .

Making the internal steel door system so that the door also opens outwards rather than being inwards is also a fair delaying tactic and the door frame gives extra strength to stop it being forced in against a lock as would be the case if the door opened inwards.

Making the frame so that the hinges ( are spot welded on the pins) are strong butt hinges set in three places top middle & bottom and that there is little space to gemmy against the frame is also worth while .

Even a simple instant flood that stays on for 3 minutes fixed outside as high as you can get it & enclosed in a shopping basket type cage that is securely bolted in six places onto the wall is also a good idea.

I know that some of the more determined use 410's with sound moderators for such lights but I do not think you are dealing with those sort of people.

I take it that your alarm is on instant signalling for noise and the dial up and not a 30 second delay setting .

Take care about rushing into an activated alarm situation ... I don't want to hear of you getting your head caved in etc.

Re the sounders being ripped off . . there are some good double lamp strobe lights with self contained batteries that when set up into to an alarm system make a very very mind confusing occasion when the alarm is tripped and sounds off..

The intruder in the strobe area is also temporarily blinded on most occasions.
Again put the devices in shopping basket type cages as high as possible away from benches etc and fix them with plenty of anchor bolts not screws

Having a sounder above in the rood void is also useful if your premises is so constructed.

also forgot to mention went through a secured gate inside the building i have them directly after the door and rear emergency exit.
the personel door did open outwards.
the sounders did have internal batteries but were just destroyed,
they now have a heavy steel cage around them bolted right through the wall with threaded bar
the alarm is on instant signal.
and the door now has hinge bolts aswell.
these people knew what they were doing and all you can do is slow them down if they want to be in they will be.
out of 5 workshops done i was the only one with an alarm system the first time i was done the alarm was faulty so i suspect they though that may still be the case but i had completely replaced the sysytem so they would have got a shock and may leave me alone now and go for easier pickings.

Sorry to hear about this but why am I not surprised?

I used to be the owner of an old Raleigh mountain bike. I'd had it well over 15 years and it had taken me all over the country, including up some serious mountains and down some serious downhill MTB runs, yet within TWO months of me moving to Hull just over a year ago, some b*****d thieved it from outside my front door door at 7 o'clock in the morning!! I was just leaving for work and I left it for less than two minutes while I locked up and got my flask and butties.

Added to the fact that some w****r knocked a hole in the side of my campervan, (since sold because it's not worth having anything nice if you live here), and my other half has had her car damaged on at least three occasions, and I fully understand, and totally agree with why Hull is seen as the worst place in the country to live

The sooner I'm away from this s**thole of a city, the better.

Theres option c) slow them down a lot in a painful possibly terminal way.

Do it anyway. These days there are plenty of premises with good security going begging. what with busineses going bust left right and centre
