building a English wheel

Ok

So here is my idea

(For me) I cant see the point in building a big heavy steel frame when I already have a concrete floor, a brick wall and a very large steel (Irish J ) in my workshop

I was thinking of using the Irish J to mount to top wheel to and have a removable floor mount for the lower wheel

that way, I have NO restriction if wheeling large sheets (wont hit the frame on a normal English Wheel)

and with a removable lower wheel, when not in use, it cant get in my whay

What do you think????

Need to ensure wheel and anvil are accurately set-up, there is minimal deflection vertically but also horizontally when you're wheeling and you don't want a beam that can twist.

Yeah you need them in line but also need them on the same plane.

i like these due to it having both english wheel and bead roller

theres a smaller table version as well

I actually was thinking about building an English wheel myself by the exact same method, as I too have a RSJ across the roof of my small workshop but it would take up too much room. As my big lathe, a 7 X 3 ft welding table, MIG welder, TIG welder, oil cooled welder, roll cab, metal folder, press, anvil, shelving and metal shear and a workbench are already in there. Two 2500 engines and a Gt6 full roll cage just taking up more room.
