The plastic ones are worse. The side breaks and then every time it turn over the wire pulls down the side of it and jamsI can’t remember ever changing a bad roll of mig wire, changed badly wound rolls that snag up. Badly wound rolls are not just from cheaper suppliers, I try to avoid the wire caged rolls because the couriers aren’t kind to them.

I only buy the big names, EWM,Lincoln etc, for the amount of welding most hobbyists do I find it best to stick with wire that I know will have been made with quality control in mind, Other makers and white box sellers just buy from the cheapest wholesalers,
