Budget CNC plasma cutting (youtube)

I enjoyed this video, albeit the title suggesting $150 CNC is a bit optimistic given he got the CNC laser cutter second hand, lucked out on a Hypertherm plasma torch and had to buy a bunch of accessories.

But I can see this working for maybe around £300 and a ton of effort. I liked that this ton of effort was pretty clearly explained.

Funnily enough, I've just watched it. The sting is in the tail - in the last few minutes he tells you it needs a non-HF start, pilot arc plasma cutter which rules out the cheap ones from Lidl and their ilk (and the one in his Amazon affiliate link). Pretty balanced video otherwise - I enjoyed it.

You can use a Hi-freq start machine if you isolate the hi voltage from the controls.
