BT phone wiring earth!

when they 1st came out I nicked a master socket out of a repossessed house I was working at and fitted it in mine .rang bt up and asked for a new phone . they wernt having any of it and said I hadn't got one fitted by them. ended up buying one myself

Were those the days when phones were normally hardwired in and sockets were just being introduced?.

I seem to remember BT provided a basic phone or you could pay for a better model and BT owned the phone so you were supposed to return it if you cancelled the phone line

Used to be a nice little earner putting in extension sockets

yes hard wired. u had to pay to have the master socket put in and could return the old phone and get your own new one and they would reduce payment for there apparatus . so they would score either way
