Always nice to see old Brit bike work.

Now I can understand one to repair, perhaps even two but how do you end up with a few, have you found a long lost hoard of BSA broken casings.

Reminds me of the Del Boy line, they're not just a pile of ordinary lawnmower engines...they are broken lawnmower engines.

A bloke i know rebuilds them

That's a nice repair. The guys at work use aluminium backing plates to weld up the mounts for the replaceable tips on our concrete crunching jaws when the guys are too lazy/thick to report them needing changing. It gives a surprisingly good result.

I've done a few of these and similar repairs for a chap who restores old bikes, use exactly the same method, some go better than others, he prepares them his self to save a bit of money and doesn't always clean them as much as I would like

Loose /worn chain and sprockets seen it lots of times remember the old bantam was a ride to work staple in it's day only maintained when it broke
