Hello,
I need some advice please. Doing lawnmower maintenance.
The end of the spindle sheared off where the locknut goes. It is still inside the nut the lost bit is the width of the nut. There is nothing left to hold the tufnol washer in place and clutch assembly.
I have this threaded rod which has ever so slightly larger diameter 10.7mm. Can this be joined onto the old spindle? I have a blow torch and a bit of silver solder left over from the last job. Then it would mean drilling through the middle to allow the 5mm push rod clearance. The washer is 3.5mm thick and that is all that is left of the old threaded part.
The last time I was here I learnt about silver soldering repairing a blow torch. Unfortunatley I have no welding experience except soldering. Any information/advice would be much appreciated. I have been watching some of the welding videos on the forum recently as was thinking of buying a welder for doing repairs. Certainly finding challenges but you can learn new things and that is the fun.
Regards,
