Broken Engine Mount

Hello, this happened this week, on a check of a boats engine, I discovered that the prop had probably hit something, destroying the damper plate, shearing the front left engine support, and breaking another engine flexible foot. Joy, the broken support attachs to a 24v alternator, sorry the photos aren't fantastic.

I v'ed each side and I had 1mm wire in my mig, it's done, Ive never welded 12mm steel before, so were the v's deep enough, theres a little bit of 'undercutting'? on one side, so too many amps I imagine, think it will last? Or should I order a new one p.d.q.? Thoughts please folks, thanks in advance.

One of them things, Itll be alright for a while i expect, just keep your eye on it....Could you modify it, with a bit of plate along the side, acting as a gusset, and spanning the main part and the broken off part?

That's a damn good idea, thanks hitch, I'll try and do that before the boat goes out next, obviously its a question of welder skill, but would you expect a weld like that to be say 70 or 80 percent as strong as it was? or impossible to say without x-raying it (or something)?

Difficult to tell from a photo, but my guess is the thing has been cracked for a while, probably from a stress raiser created by a bit of undercut or the haz on the weld at the top of the gusset on the left, you can see where its gone rusty, the collision just finished it off

If there's room I would also add a gusset to the other side to take the load off the repair

It looks a very clean break for mild steel, at first I thought it was cast
