just about to move an looking around for the cheapest/best broadband provider.

cant get cable, so got to pay for landline. so bt gonna want paying.

lousy tv reception, so prob want sky or a similar package as well.

make a few foreign calls, and my family already use skype.

any suggestions?

what about bt home vision?

know sky do broadband, but it it any good?

Very happy with the 16mb deal ,not sure how the deal stacks up with the competition now but speed is always good,not had a problem in 18 months,only went for cheapy tv channels though

check out sky broadband mate, iv looked into it a while ago for mates and it seems a good deal. with bt myself, never had any problems and am perfectly happy with it (the fact im not the one paying for it helps somewhat )

if you don't want sky tv, did you know you can get freeview through a sky dish/ box? if you could get a second hand setup, you just need to phone up sky and get a freeview card, not sure of the prices tho, hope this helps mate

i use sky broadband its 16mb unlimited downloads (which caught my eye the most) only for £10 if you got the sky tv, i've done alot of searching and they are the best for speed/price

just done post code check, it says the speed is only 0.5mbs per sec.

cant do actual check as not in the house yet.

Firstly i would avoid any big conglomerate offering ADSL, every single one goes to great lengths to hide the 'Unlimited' conditions. When you eventually find its worthless and can make up what they want when they want! Add throttling which they will deny as well, better off knowing exactly what you are going to get for your money.
Add to this minimum contracts 12 to 18 months, just to keep you with them.
Call centres in India peak rate and cannot get any joy apart from pre written and read from statements. You will find after 10 mins you will be repeating the first words out your mouth.

Shop around, fed up of these types phoning all the time trying to sell me garbage thats worse than i have. Pipex worst of the lot and still owe me money- stole phone call supply from Tiscali then ripped me off!
Win every time even on the most 'got an answer for everything' types of sales persons, Line rental, free calls all day and night plus allotted golden destination monthly bill £11.50.

ADSL you dont get something for nothing and download speed is irrelevant if you are far away from local exchange- I am 5.5 mile and struggle to get 1mb but know what i am getting! 20Gb in the day p/m and 300Gb after 10pm to 7 am, after sales second to none. Downloaded WIN7 three times in the day this week 3.2Gig each, that would have exceeded most ISP's 'Unlimited' for the month and either would cut me off or throttle me for the rest of the month, still got 310 Gig left all in £20 p/m.

If your just after more channels, no need to change aerial, i am using one put up in 1984. Digital Freeview inbuilt in to a tv 26 channels, 32+ on this pc.
Sky movies package at least 9 years ago was close on £35 a month, mostly repeats. Did have a contract originally in 1991 stating they could not put the price up from £11.50! They got round it with the analogue to digital switchover. Another, the independant free view channels are mostly blocked when you unsubscribe.
