Broach cutter in Pillar drill?

Hi all,
I need to be able to drill a lot of 28mm holes in 2mm thick 50mm box section.

Is there a way I can fit a 28mm broach cutter from a mag drill into my pillar drill? The pillar drill I have is the Einhell BT-BD501 Drill Press , not the best drill in the world but all I have at the moment.

Ive been searching for some sort of adapter to allow me to use the broach cutters on my drill but not had any luck finding one.

Me too.
I needed to drill a lot of 50mm holes in 6mm stainless. Made a jig up by drilling some 8mm mild with the pilot drill in the hole cutter, then set it up so the hole guided the cutter for the stainless without a pilot. No grabbing and worked OK (lots of lube!)
Same can be done by drilling some plywood and clamping it to the work as a guide.

The main reason for wanting to use the broach cutters was bacause I was given a nice big set of them a few years back, but never had a use for them.

I aways thought that hole saws wound not last quite so long before going blunt.

u can cut up to half inch plate using hole cutters ive done a few just a slow speed and plenty of cuting compound

Short hard peck to start will sort that. You have to be commited and bring the cutter down firmly but I've managed it well enough many times. Work has to be clamped down.

What taper does the spindle of that drill press have? You could make a holder for the rotabroach cutter in a lathe from a more taper adapter.

You could use the same type of guide for a broach cutter. The drill you have sounds a bit generic cheepnese and might not hold the cutter well without a guide.
As for wear, in mild steel, at a low speed with lube, probably last a while. In my case above, one cutter lasted about 10 holes. SS is not kind to them, esp. 6mm.
To your original question: Finding an arbour to match the broaches to your chuck might require some DIY. Check the thread is not similar to the hole cutters type.

I only really use rotabroach cutters for thin stuff up to 20mm if standard broach sizes as it puts a lot less strain on the motor etc , but as said above work piece must be clamped down properly and the quill kept as far in as posible

You need one of these.
A morse taper to Weldon adapter. Lets you use mag drill cutters in a norml pilar drill (Assuming it has a MT spindle of course)

I googled the machine and the specs don't say anything about a morse taper spindle.

Id imagine thats a male stub taper like jt2 etc to take a drill chuck directly

How about a blacksmith drill? Should fit standard 13mm or 1/2" chuck.
