British standard help

So I'm doing an engineering apprenticeship atm being tailored to manual machinist

Does anyone have any information about these BS numbers?

bs4500 was withdrawn about 1990 according to google. (and a copy costs £170!!!)
BS1916 appears to be current, and costs £224!!!

apart from that, its something to do with how undersized or oversized a hole or shaft have to be for a particular purpose.

Yeah I'm not at college atm as it's a modern apprenticeship (I'm 31) will email them and ask

Has the college not given you a text book list, the covers the base standards worked too in the uk, i have old ones, but sure things have changed since then!
