90 anniversary of Admirality Yacht Iolaire views tonight on BBC Alba, although Gaelic programme, sub-titled normally?

I came across information about Iolaire disaster years ago when I was researching information about a wreck I was searching for. I had never heard of this tragic but fasinating piece of our history. To have survived the sea and land battles of WW1 to meet a tragic end a stones throw from home does indeed bring a lump to my throat.

The sinking of the Titanic is one of the main reasons we now have SOLAS, but there are still lessons to be learned! I see it every day at work. by the way I am an EOOW in the MN ( those that know what that means )
I work on a vessel that looks after the gas rigs in the southern north sea
