Bringing a Mig Welder out of “Hibernation”

I have a Sealey mig which has not been used for at least 10 years. I’m worried that the electrolytic caps on the circuit boards will have depolarised. If I just plug it straight in the mains (246V here), it may not like it.

I have a Variac (variable voltage transformer) and I always wake stuff that’s not been used for a long time by slowly bringing up the volts. This won’t work on the welder because the relay(s) won’t pull in at really low volts.

I think I’ll see if I can get it to work stating at say 180V, and then increase in 10 volt steps until something happens.
Any insights welcomed.

if anything it will be the same
you wont need the other parts in use as its the seperate motor transformer that will power up and feed the pc board

if there faulty that board will blow

take in the house and let it dry out for a few days is what id do before powering up

thats as much as you can do and to be fair more than you need do realy just plug in and its lightly to work any way

PC psu's are switched-mode types, so may not be very happy on the Variac.

The welder is in my garage and the garage is one that's integral with the house. So has garages go, it's fairly dry, but bringing it the house would probably still be a good idea.

Some I the big vsds I use at work require the capacitors to be reformed if not turned on for a while. Tends to be find by opening the drive and going directly across them with a variac and rectifier.
Not a welder but your concerns are the same as ours

Wire speed

Lads. How can i speed up the wire feed on a seeley 150. It has a 1 k pot on it But even screwed right to max i havent enough wire. It just to slow throuhout its range
