On my cylinder mower. When i get it to tick over to empty the collection box, it stays on a steady tickover for 30 seconds then dies. Restarts immediately tho. New filter, plug (gapped) fresh fuel. ??

Could be a number of things, how old is it ?

Not too sure, got it second hand. If it helps its a Mountfield Marquis (18")

Usually means the carb it a bit gummed up and running bit lean. There may be an idle mixture screw on it.

If it has electronic ignition, closed up points can be eliminated. You've done the other obvious stuff so look at idle speed, blocked up idle circuit, worn linkages etc.

Thanks for your help guys. Fell into the trap of "its just been serviced". Had the mixture screw not been screwed right in it would have run sweetly as it does now backed off 1.5turns and tweaked!
