Bridgeport power feed

Hello all. Need some help with my Bridgeport original power feed please.
It was working fine except leaking a little, so I took the motor off to replace the seal.
On turning it back on it seemed ok, ran it left and right to the stops a couple of times until it had a little wobbly and then started pulsing at low speeds, ok at max speed / rapid, then it blew a fuse.
I stripped the motor again and found that I must have trapped the green wire which rubbed on the armature shaft and cause a short.
I've now fixed that, and am running the motor out of the gearbox but am still having the pulsing issue and it still keeps blowing fuses, can't find any other problems and it's driving me mad.
Can anyone help please?
The electrical box with the micro switches is clean enough, all the wiring looks ok, motor turns free by hand.

The control board is in the power cabinet on the side/back looks like this


possible something has blown on there

Guessing it's the Erskine unit at the bottom? It's got a cover with a wire seal. The red wire is currently loose as it comes from the above contactor and I think it's feed for the power feed, so I've unplugged it as we're down to the last fuse with more ordered and don't want the machine totally inoperable.

what age is your machine ? mine is from the mid 90s has resettable fuses

I believe it's 1972 by the serial number.
I'm very much a layman with this type of thing, but in my mind, one of the motor phases isn't working, hence the motor pulsing and smoothing out at higher rpm's. I could be completely wrong though.

pretty sure the feed motor is 90v dc mine was

Been doing more research, my earlier comments about 3 phases are wrong, it's a single phase shunt type DC motor.
Got some ideas for testing it tomorrow, fingers crossed
