Bridgeport horizontal attachment

Theres one near me for £300 just wondering if anyone has one and actually uses it , I have plenty of cutters and think it would be handy

price not too bad too

i have the head of one of those but as i intend to strip it for the stuff instead it was worth it for me

The picture shows the horizontal attachment as well as (I think) a cherrying head top right. Have a look on vintagemachinery for further details. I think the cherrying head used its own unique collets so without them it is not much use.

Check the arbor diameter matches the cutters you have, likely 1".

Yeah i think your right about the cherrying head i'll ask if he has any collets too just in case , most of my cutters are 1" so should be good to go

Yeah I meant to check on there as I know there are various heads avaliable , I bet those collets are rare as hens teeth

the question you need to ask yourself is do you need the side milling piece as the bridgeport can do most of it anyway

and for taking loads of material off in one shot its still going to be a round circle with a bit to skim the metal

the side milling can be done from the bridgeports head with a slitting tool in it

with my smaller machine its far better for me to use the horizontal side of it and climb mill across the material than to use the vertical head weather it being an my2 or the r8
