Brazing/Soldering ?

This is a repair patch for the bottom of my tractors fuel tank. Usual problem, pinholed with rust.
The patch has to include the boss for the fuel tap/outlet, which fixes from the inside. It needs brazing in really, but I do not have access to the equipment any more.
I could attempt to solder it, but again, I dont think I can get enough heat into it with a blowlamp, and also, Bakers Fluid is a hell of a price now, but more importantly, I am concerned that as I weld the patch in, as the tank is upside down, the solder will melt and the boss fall inside while I am doing it.

Any ideas ?

Low temperature silver solder could be used to get the boss attached to the patch, then use solder for the patch to the tank (tank properly purged of fuel, of course!!).

if the boss is steel, you could try and weld it if you're using mig or tig (Ive not tried arc welding though)

If you don't want to weld the boss in, tack it so it can't fall out, then solder it. Or solder it once the patch is in.

Could even just use a couple of screws to hold it.

Could probably make a seal and bolt the boss in anyway.

Normal propane torch so the flux doesn't burn.

I did think of using something like JB Weld, but have concerns about the long term effects of constant immersion in diesel fuel

The correct answer was "I have all the gear, so if you pop it round, I will do it for you"

I did try local garages, but no one seems to have OA gear any more, but I am too old to invest in such things now

Overall, I think tack welding and soldering afterwards is the way to go !

best of cleaning fluxing and tinning both surfaces then heat and fuse both together
