Does any one know if there are any grips available with insulation to stop heat being transferred during brazing . For example if I am welding a small nut my metal vice will absorb so much ofthe heat that it takes an age for the nut to get red hot.
I use a fire brick for brazing small items. If it needs to be held accurately, tin both parts of the job, hold the small item with an old pair of sharp nose pliers and melt the two together. At least with braze you can remelt and reposition if it's wrong
Or use wire to hold your parts together. Also try and get soft fire bricks rather than hard ones. The hard ones just absorb the heat, the soft ones glow red and reflect heat back into the part.
