Brass chain.

Hi all, I have to make up a brass chain from 10mm brass rod, my plan is to form the hoops and silver solder the joints. Then i got round to thinking that tig brazing might be a better way as well as being cheaper. I have never tried tig brazing, anyone know if this is an option.

The brass should weld to itself by autogenous welding, brazing rod would melt at the same temperature as the brass.

Wind the rod around a mandrel to make a coil, split the coil with a 1mm cutting disc all along one side then link the rings up, squeeze flat and braze/solder. Form the links by squeezing the rings in a press/vice after brazing.

how much load if any does the chain have to carry when completed? 10mm is quite a decent sized link dia,
