Is that because you know, or a guess?
They are not particularly expensive, but the lathe is the only use for them, so I prefer to order the right size,
The lathe will be getting some TLC once I get around to building a shed to put it in, including a better system to tension the belts, which seems a pain to achieve with the original set up, I may move the motor, the current system seems to tension two belts of different length, using one adjuster, and both belts can be on different sized pulleys, and the adjuster only moves an inch or so for adjustment, meaning that tension is never right on both belts.
It's because I know.
I can guarantee you there are more pressing jobs than replacing the ball oilers if you’re going to refurb your machine
I would personally stick with the Boxford than go for a student. The old ones are well... getting old, and the ‘modern’ ones aren’t reputed to be the best build quality.
