Depends what tooling is with it, the general condition of the machine and single or three phase. Then how easy it is to get it to where you want it.
At the end if the day it really depends whether or not you feel you paid the right price for it. The one that is on Tony's lathes.co.uk website I sold for 1800 quid five years ago, that was a bargain for the buyer with all the tooling.
There are no immediate signs of abuse and to be fair they are a nice enough thing. If you think the price is right just buy it if you have room. For that machine, £750 would be about right - for me. They can be silly money though as this particular model has Model Engineer in it's title and someone will pay just for that reason alone.
Just buy it then if you have the cash and the room. Stick a three phase motor on it if it doesn't have one, a VFD and happy days.
I would want the changewheels though.
No tool post, three jaw (Taylor maybe), no cabinet doors, backgear lever isn't right, surface rust. Just based on what I can see I would say £400 tops, probably less, maybe half that.
Check it over thoroughly before buying and see if all the other bits are with it.
That's a change gear lathe the first thing I would do is check that all the gears are present. Looks to me like someone has raped it of all the good bits and selling the left overs.
At 400 as is I’d say a bargain...just buy it n sort it out later....
If u don’t it will go for a lot more in the right place....
I paid over £3500 for an as new Myford S7..still in wax....no tooling other than factory supplied...
Have turn'd down £7'000 cash for it....
U won't regret it....if u do u can flog it for at least double....
At that money I’d have it just as a spare lathe, u can't have enough of em.....hahaha...
To be honest I’m really not clued up on lathes. It’s something I’ve thought I’d like to give a go but never have !
I would know what’s there or missing or what to check on it
