just a question...i spend a lot of time at drag racing events..santa pod..north weld ect...and spend time looking at other peoples builds...now of all the chassis i have seen i have never seen fish plates over welded joints on box section..mainly on the front rails were the mitre cuts have been made to form a kick up in the main rails...surely a fish plate would strengthen the joints.....or the welded joints should be strong enough on its own.....

If the joints welded fully it should be fine, I think a spreader (I've always known them as fish plates) plate is there to stop cracks formed by flex? Might be wrong.
