Bosch K / KE Jetronic DIY fuel distributor rebuild tips?

My new to me old 190E 2.5-16 Merc has been sitting 15 years. The fuel system is not working properly with a flush out and fresh fuel.

I have ordered a fuel distributor rebuild kit and ill ultrasonic clean the internals.



Has anyone rebuilt one of these and have any tips to share please? Ill also update this thread as I go.

Only ever did the version in the Mk2 golf that was an early Bosch K series injector system.
they were "Interesting" and you will a need micrometre to check your regulator plunger wear.

The big issue i remember was the air metering system could be very temperamental.

I did have a manual for K-jetronic at one time, but I have no idea where it is.

I only ever worked on one car that had it, and that was an old '83 V8 Merc of some kind, that I done the cylinder heads on many years ago.

have you done volume test yet?
Like on a diesel, if all the cylinders are getting the same amount, from the distributor head, it could be the injectors.
the one memory from 30+ years ago, the horrible disk in the air flap body had to be set just right as this determined the mixture and if there were leaks on the intake system, they would run dog rough.
and now having flash backs of dealing with early Audi's with this bloody system to.
