bosch grinders

just bought 2 new Bosch grinders, a GWS 7 115 and a GWS 9 115 got the pair delivered for £95 witch was a barging imo.

The GWS 9 115 made in Germany has a little locking leaver for the gard that you pull back and can turn the gard, brilliant idea and nice to use.

The GWS 7 115 made in China has an Allen screw that you have to unscrew all the way to adjust the gard and it's very easy to cross thread. Also the lead isn't as good quality.

I've always had professional bosch grinders but this is the first one I've had made in China. Has anyone else has any dealings with Chinese Bosch tools.

What do you want for 95 quid delivered?...just spent that in Tesco & it'll be gone come Sunday! All the Bosch tools I have seem to be made in Switzerland, not Germany; good stuff & lasts years (blue not green).

I am sure my Bosch GDS 18 V impact driver was made in the US.

I'm not complaining about the price just pointing out the difference between two similar Bosch grinders, one made in china witch seems to be of a lower quality than the german one.

i've had & still got bosch grinders/drills & a nibbler the first 2 -7.115's lasted over 9 years as did my 2, 9 " ones ,then after that i had about 6 chinese ones which failed as soon as u turned them on,eventually i suggested they replace them with german ones & that was over 2 years ago[i've replaced the bearing on 1 of them].So i wouldn't touch a chinese bosch

I've got various different Bosch blue grinders, the older 7-115 are made in Germany and have the push button guard adjustment. Older 6-115 has a screw clamp for the guard but it's a friction with detents deal i.e. once the screw's set it can be left alone. That's made in Maylasia and is as good as the German ones in terms of what i've done with it. Picked up another 6-115 a couple of years ago while they were on offer somewhere and a cheapnese one turned up... allen key to move the guard and a 'flex' that doesn't flex unless it's warm. It's been relegated to use with a backing pad only as the guard thing would drive me mad but in terms of guts it's up there with the others. If it weren't for the fact that i gave less than £30 for it it would've gone back but as it stands i should have known better...

i've had german, swiss, chinese and malaysian stuff from bosch, all blue, all fine.

Ive burned up almost every brand of grinder, but hilti is one grinder I cant. Costs more, but you get what you pay for.

It looks as if they don't sell through independent dealers. They have their own centres in the major cities. You can buy on line, but it looks as if you have to register and they're a bit cagey about prices.

if anything goes wrong with a Hilti here,they screw you on price of parts.
so much so that people stopped using them,which is a shame,as they take a nice bit of use/abuse

bosch are very much the same in that respect, i had a grinder on off switch burn out and the replacement was £14+ postage and vat.

hilti wouldnt sell you the part,you had to give the drill etc to them and let them fit it for you,for mega bucks.broken power switch could end up costing you 100 quid

Before everyone starts bashing hilti, ive had this hilti going on 4 years of heavy shipyard and home use, and trust me when I mean heavy use, im very hard on my tools. $200.00 is worth the money after ive burned up every size grinder home depot, and lowes got to offer. Hilti is worth the money.

up until a month ago i swore bosch being the best, as ive had there kit for years. must say the kit ive bought from them has lasted very well.

then me 4,5" grinder gave up the ghost, and as dewalt kit was on offer i thought id try one, a bit heavey but im very happy with it.

makes one think??
