Boot sale bargains

Just found a few bargains at the Redcar boot-sale, Got 12 X 125mm 40grit Abrac flap wheels for £8-00, And a one of those oscillating multitools by Fein for a £10-00. It is 110v but I do have a nice transformer, So now the quest is on for some blades, What type do you guys find most useful,and for doing what?

A tenner?! If the motor's OK that must be the bargain of the year. Last time I priced one they were the neck end of £250 new.

Hi, Ian,
I think it is the older style Fein fixing, but just checked up and its the same fitting as Bosch, I don't think it's had much use, in really good nick, Opened it up to check the brushes, They are really good too, not much worn off them at all, Plugged into the 110v transformer and it runs like a champ,Very quiet and smooth running light, So all in all I'm over the moon!!

I have ordered a few different blades from Saxton on Brightsparks recommendation and look forward to giving the machine a test run.

Myself and a work mate bought one of these each when they were in Aldi's a couple of weeks ago. I'd looked at and almost bought the Fein in the past but didn't think I'd use it enough to justify the cost. How wrong was I!!!!!! The Aldi one gets used almost everyday (I'm a joiner), it's cordless and battery doesn't last forever but it gets the job done time and time again.

At £40 I thought I did alright but at a tenner, you're laughing.

I bought a cheap 240v one from Netto before they closed and when I fitted new windows at the back of the house a couple of weeks ago it was invaluable. Being able to plunge cut into the old frames to get them out made the job so easy. It's one of those things that gets used once in a while but you think how did I ever manage before I bought it.

i was thinking about that Gordon let us know how you get on i was just going to braze a hacksaw blade on to the worn out ones never got round to it

lol dont bother ive allready done that it isnt successfull . the the teeth arent the correct profile and the originals wont sharpen saxon sell the blades half price so there afordable

that's the problem multitools are now cheap but the blades are not
seems good value in the full kits with all the blades
that could be why a lot are for sale on fleybay after they use all the blades

Just got the Saxton blades,Have not tried them yet, Looking at the tooth form on most of them, they are ground to cut from left to right looking down on the machine,Did you notice this Alan when you did the hacksaw mod?

yes they only cut one way i use the japanese course cut blades for either plastic fibreglass or wood as they last longer and cut faster . the metal cutting blades are a lot finer as with the standard wood cutting blades

brightspark, I got that link off you before and went to buy but they don't sell to paddy's. Its beyond me why these companies won't sell outside the UK. How much more hassle can it be ? Grrrrrrr...

Well chaps, been in garage to try the Saxton blades.Brilliant for 30 seconds then it sunk in, why I'd been "conned" out of a whole tenner!!,Machine kept cutting in and out, Classic symptoms of a broken wire in the sheath,Examined the cable and found a small nip mark about 6" from the tool, opened it up and there it was, A broken neutral/return/blue wire,
!0 minutes later with cable refitted I was up and running again,Zero cost fix thank goodness,Totally impressed with the Fein,even the cable is nice and flexible and around 14 feet long,

I used to repair obsolete clutches,and although the company had all the export licences,they couldn't be arsed to do the customs paperwork,exchange rates etc.I used to tell people to send it from the North and return it there.
I did one for a 3 wheeler Morgan from Canada,the guy sent it to a club member in England.
If you're in the South,can you get someone in the North to order for you?

I don't know anyone up there to ask but its a good idea. Maybe when I'm less of a noob around here I might ask for a wee favour No urgency just yet.
