Anyone know any good boiler engineers in east London. Vaillant EcoTec Plus 831 has thrown a wobbly. Error code F28.

Ignition failure.

Does it go straight to F28 or does it try lighting first?

It's either lost gas supply or its failing to detect the flame

Or the PCB has died

Vaillant F.28 Boiler Fault Code​

Error Description
Failure during start-up: ignition unsuccessful.

Error Cause
• Gas meter defective or gas pressure regulator has triggered,
• Air in gas
• Gas flow pressure too low
• Thermal isolator device (TAE) has triggered
• Condensate duct blocked
• Incorrect gas restrictor
• Incorrect ET gas valve
• Fault on the gas valve
• Multiple plug on PCB incorrectly plugged in
• Break in cable harness
• Ignition system (ignition transformer, ignition cable, ignition plug, ignition electrode) defective

Fix Vaillant F.28 Error Code
There are a range of issues that can cause an F.28 error code to occur, if you encounter this issue - first check to ensure gas is coming into your property. If it is then call a Gas Safe engineer to test your system and isolate the fault.

I'd have a go, it's only a bit of natural gas.

Right switching the boiler off completely and then back on has cured the issue.

So it's either electrodes or gas valve.

A PCB would either work or it wouldn't in my experience.

I had an intermittent ignition fault last year. Dry joints on the ignition module. It's not that uncommon. It took me some time to identify because it could be fine for a few days and then start playing up again. Every pin on the ignition module connector was cracked. It took a powerful loupe to spot the cracks though.

I'd pull down the flap on the front, dislodge the PCB from it's clips, pull off all the edge connectors and put them back on again.

Then pick up all the pieces of broken clip off the floor

PCB was always my last option

I could explain why you have only temporarily fixed it, but your attitude is frankly disgusting

I have taken the time to explain the issue and you come back with an entitled, I know better response so from now on I won't be sharing my extensive knowledge of that boiler

I'd check for dry joints before refitting it. It could be the gas valve relay. I've seen many with badly dry joints.

It's wild how even modest swings in things like temperature and humidity can cause failing electronics to go loopy.
