BOC Suremix 60 as sheilding gas?

I've acquired a small bottle of BOC Suremix 60, which is 60% CO2 40% Nitrogen. Is it any good for mig welding? If not I can get it refilled with straight CO2 at a local foodstuff place.

That's beverage gas & the nitrogen content means it's no good for welding!

There are some people that say that the beverage industry added the nitrogen to stop so many bottles of straight co2 going missing, usually out the back door of a pub & onto somebody's welder.

As to refilling it with co2, how can you be sure that you get all of the nitrogen out first?

Thanks, I managed to acquire a bottle of suregas from the same person, so I will just get that refilled. It's a shame that the other stuff is no good as it is almost full.

I thought Guinness used nitrogen because it produces a very uniform smooth and creamy head.

It's good if you want some beer for Xmas!

The mix is used for 'smooth' beers, like John Smiths. They are mainly brewed with nitrogen rather than co2.
If you connect them to a co2 bottle they will go wild and you will just pour out a pint of foam!
