even if you tell them you are filling it coz you borrowed it from another boc customer, if you swap it and you are not registered for that size/style. you WILL be charged for the rental it happened to me Plus a mate who said I will swap your cylinders,to several people, he said I have an account no problem, he ended up with a BIG PROBLEM, paying 6 rentals but could not stop because he didn't have any cyl's to give back ! they work on the premiss you swapped them you must have them !
I wouldn't pull any fancy tricks with boc,or any gas suplier, after all,they are going to pass on any costs incurred to those who play fair,& it is effectively a con to work things for a rent free bottle from a suplier who charges rental.

I totally agree but I don't think BOC play 100% fair themselves.
£16 handling fee for you collecting a bottle then a environmental charge. Why are these costs not just put on the cylinder price? Most likely because their cylinders would appear more expensive.
I couldn't get my Acetylene bottle filled for weeks last year, do you think they were prepared to refund some of my rental? No chance!

I have just had a t cylinder of balloon gas delivered from their delivery depot 45 miles away at a cost to the company of £70.70,we use it for leak checking on our vacuum furnaces,my colleague got one from the local collect only depot last and it cost 100 quid!When I contacted BOC for the quote i mentioned that I had a another mt cyl that had been on site since before I was working for the co,they said if I returned it they would charge rental,fine I said I will dump it,they collected it for free,i think the OC stands for outrageous charges,you can make your own mind up about the B,our site [one of 25] spends about £1k a week on their products!!!
