I HAVE BEEN CHASING A FAULT ON THE BIG TIG. THE FAN MOTOR WIRING INSULATION FAILED WITH OLD AGE. AND HAS SHORTED DOWN THE CONTROL CIRCUIT BLOWING THE COIL ON ONE OF THE RELAYS.
MANY THANKS TO DAVE CACKETT OF WOODFIELD WELDING FOR ALL THE EMAILS TRACING THE FAULT.
This machine would not look out of place on the original film of Flash Gordon i must admit i am a sparks by trade although some time ago now i always check twice it is switched of on the isolator before i put my hands in there LOL
New relay on order from RS £12 so pleased with that if it all works naturally.

Fitted the relay today traced another fault about to happen on the foot peddle and all is well. got an arc again thanks to dave at woodfield welding

And yeah - that machine looks like Chernobyl tech!

I know i am nuts just done a 200mile round trip to collect another boc adr 300 welder paid £50 for it with foot peddle (my foot peddle is on its way out) and torch plus it has a suppression unit for the welder what exactly does that unit do anyone know
i got it for spares but it may work the chap bought it and never had enough power to run it so i have to test it but i got it for spares to keep mine running.

This mornings job get the thing off me van thank heavens i have an engine crane this one is later than mine and a lot has changed inside but i have a bigger torch with this one and the foot peddle is in one piece

I nearly bought one of these until I found out how big they are, good machines by all accounts but couldn't justify the workshop space.
