A couple of years ago, my mate boat a boat and trailer up north somewhere, on the way home on the m25, he could smell a burning smell and decided to carry on till he got back home (1hr from m25)
Called me out to have a look at it the following day, outer part of outer bearing on drivers side wheel had pretty much dissappeared, inner race had got so hot, it had welded itself to the shaft.
After a whole day of bashing about, I managed to get the old bearing off and fit new.
2 years later, went to move boat from storage and the passenger side wheel was on the wonk.
Dismantled it to find the bearing shot on that side as well, it had also worn the shaft away (see pic below)
Another pleasant surprise on this brakes trailer, was a complete lack of braking components, just the cable poking through the housing.
I have persuaded my mate to replace both suspension units and need to source a suitable replacement.
I assume when buying the trailer suspension, the parts are rated as a pair rather than a single side? Going by the plate on the trailer (see below) would a 1300kg be suitable?
