blue screen Grrrrr

computer has been blue screening lately..

have the minidump file it creates but any idea what you use to view it....



im wondering if its one of my stick's of ram going down...

anyone know of a good program to use to check the ram sticks.

Mine was doing silly things last week, black screening and locking up etc.

Over heating seems to cause 90% of any faults I ever experience.

Opened it up and as usual the processor looked like a furry dead mouse, got the airline on it and blasted it clean and all well again.

It's a Cooler Master case and it sucks all the air in the world through it every hour..plus every particle of dust from a zillion miles away.

Clean the dust out of it and run http://www.memtest.org/ You'll want the pre compiled bootable iso.

its not overheating, as the case side has been off for a while,
when i was using sata cable and power to run some hdd's outside the case.
forgot to put it back on

yeah right a computer side being off dosnt exactly cool it properly however air flowing past it through a case is much better

also says me who also leaves there side off the pc as well but on my power system its a closed case with 8 fans blowing through it

blue screen is a few things g card on way out memory a pain also changing a memory slot helps cheap memory sticks dont though

Put the side back on, otherwise you don't get the correct airflow across the CPU cooler. Remove and re-seat the RAM. Give it a hoover. Run memtest to see whether the RAM is faulty.

What version of Windows is it, and what does the blue screen say? It should mention a file and an error code. Do you get the same files / error codes every time?

I occasionally get the pc freezing [no blue screen though[, turning off & onfixes it for a while.

Some time ago I removed the cpu, cleaned off all the old thermal paste and applied new - solved it for ages, so yours might be a similar issue.

You may need to change some of the Windows config as mentioned at the start of the article, then it will allow you to read the memory dump file and get an idea of the error code and what module/file failed.
My money is still on hardware, though, so suggest you carry out the steps mentioned above.
