I was given a replacement (brass) replica mascot & windscreen brackets (missing) for my resto car project. I suspect they were trial pieces for a production run. All were given free gratis.
Unfortunately they have slight blow holes in places & ultimately they will need chrome plating.
From what I’ve read on the forum & from chromers, the holes will need filling in with silver solder or braze before chroming.
Filling the holes with braze would clearly be very dicey as some of the pieces of the mascot are quite thin (see photo) & easily melted.
Which, unless anybody has any other better idea leaves silver soldering.
My question is would a mapp torch have enough heat to melt silver solder to achieve the required repair.
