What's the symptoms of this patient ?
I make all my grinders from a oil drum of spare parts I got from a closed down hire firm, I kind of know my way around them by know. Though Kobe is not a brand I've ever heard of in the UK.
I'm putting my money on the brushes have arced and burnt the commutator to death.

Would suggest Makita, though I have a Sealey which seems decent and cost a lot less

It's a Japanese brand supplied by Cromwell Tools, we had a few Kobe air tools and they were pretty reliable considering the abuse they got from the production workers, spares were readily available.

Or screwficks do a Hitachi twin pack for £100, also even less if u hunt around online. you kinda get a 4.5" grinder for free but they do seem a lot tinnier than the old models.

after reading the thread title, what a let down I was expecting to see a picture with a grinder in a thousand pieces, then reading on just failed windings what a let down

I noticed Aldi have their £20 grinders back in stock, if you want a cheap one. If it's the same one I bought a few months ago, they are very sturdy with soft start.

I got one of those yesterday. It's a mixed bag of good & bad.
Good: 1200 watts may be a little on the overkill side as my other new one is only 810 watts and can cope with almost anything that a 115mm disc can be expected to do. Seems strong and the thumb wheel speed control on top can be altered while the unit is working. A spare set of brushes is included in the box.
Bad: On mine the guard clip needed adjusting to make it clamp on tight. The switch is not designed to lock in the 'ON' position. The switch safety button is slightly recessed making it difficult to press while wearing gloves - likely impossible with heavy work gloves. No discs are included, but you have the option of several sets of cutting, grinding, flap discs @ £5 each.

I think I have the same one as that (it was the screwfix twin pack) and in my opinion it's loud and heavy but I've never tried any other 9" ones so that might be normal. I like how the side handle can go in the top instead of just the sides but again, that might be normal.

Swear by Makita, pure favouratism and have a few sizes.
Bought one second hand 9" 12 years ago, second hand diamond blade too. This tool has been abused beyond abuse cutting any and everything. Not only is the grinder still never missing a beat, the blade keeps cutting. Not even had new brushes!
Have a new 9" ready and its still in the box waiting for the old one to give up the ghost.
