I was using the old pipe bender yesterday bending 1" 1/2 barrel to 90 degrees machine managed one then got halfway through another when the hydraulic oil leaked from the Ram very inconvenient cause I have these tubes to bend for monday , anyway Ive proceeded to strip down the Ram and have a look at the seals

Sorry pictures are a bit large , ive ended up with three oil seals and lots of bits and bobs to put back together , I took the seals to my local Pirtek in the hopes that they can find some , this bender has been in the workshop longer than I have , its bent more pipe than I care to mention , anyone seen seals like these before ?

You may get lucky and use a normal hydrolic ram in there out of a port-a-power or similar if push comes to shove.

When I was after some ram seals recently I went to my local bearing place who can get them. The hydraulic shop was no use.

Can't you buy Blackhawk parts?
Was a common make my dozer was Blackhawk
and I think most of my other portapower stuff is.

It was more a case if they have to bent for monday then you could have more of a chance of borrowing a portapower than finding the seals on a Sunday.

Measure all the seal dimensions and phone FPE seals in Doncaster. If they don't have them they will get them made. And the prices are very good

years ago ,I borrowed a tubulea m/c ,typically it started leaking during this time, contacted BARNWELLS in Birmingham ,they had them in stock.

funny you say that i have got a tubella as well which doesnt work , we had someone take it away and it came back still wouldnt work !

These guys are the UK distributor for Blackhawk. It was bought by Snap On then they dumped it and these guys have the it now. I've got a Blackhawk rescue set that I bought from Withams, had loads of bits but the pump wasn't working too well. Contacted these guys and they had a seal kit in from Europe within a few days. I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw they were in Hereford and only 10mins from my house. They delivered the seal kit to my door. I think the complete kit was about £23

The seals you require are either GM-EI, GM-EO, GM-WO or GM-WI Class seals.

You need to measure the seal groove. These seals come in imperial or metric so measure carefully.

Cylinder bore x inner diameter of seal groove x width of seal groove.

And then contact "Fluid Power" details can be found via google type in "fpe-ltd"

These are the people to talk to, very helpful tell them the use and sizes of the seals.

They may suggest another design of seal, it may mean the seal groove has to be re-machined for a modern day seal design but these are the people who'll know.

I have managed to get some seals for the Ram from Pirtek in the end and its working fine !

Dave at Roberts autumotive sent me a seal but it wasnt right one , none the less very helpful Chap
