Incredible given the levels of technology a century ago; shame that the end product was put to the wrong use. I wonder how many industrial accidents they notched up.
On the lighter side, 'Forged in Fire' better get themselves a bigger studio for a power hammer that size.

The rotating breech mechanism impressed me. On a much much smaller note, I marvelled at the way the action on a Schmitt-Ruben rifle was machined.

We started making a big gun at my company, It was apparently supposed to be just tubing for the petro-chemical companies but it also had a large breech!! 
(39" bore from memory!!)
Some fella named Gerald Bull designed the gun to shoot stuff straight up in to orbit but he was assassinated for his knowlege!!
Here's a couple of surviving parts bolted together..
Apparently they had a liner that was only good for two shots then it needed stripping down for a new one fitting as each shot removed a sizeably amount of the bore!!
We still have the gun plant on our site that made the 16" guns for our battleships during both wars (When the company was Vickers I believe), There are furnaces and quench tanks that from memory, Are around six feet dia and go down in to the ground a hundred feet, Not been in there for around 35 years!, The old crane in there was originallyt powered by a diesel engine and is so high that the driver went up with his snap at the start of his shift and didn't come down til the end!
I think there was a bucket up there for if they needed to go!!
They've not made barrels in decades in there..

Yes, and no NHS, or compensation unless the boss was unusually caring ( they did exist).
