Nowt wrong with Poundland superglue. I've always found it just as effective at gluing fingers together as owt else.

On a slight tangent, never try getting a stuck cap off a superglue bottle with your teeth. It's a damn sight harder to unstick lips than fingers. Unfortunately, I do know that from experience.

Given the age I would guess it will be abs, if it is clean then it may stick ok but if there is road crap or engine gunk in it you may find it keeps cracking or just won't stick.

I would go with a glue in the crack and a bonded patch on the back.. and guess it will be fine

Layered bog roll and super glue works on things like this a treat. I think a specific epoxy that has the same thermal expansion rate as the parent material will be best though

Check the panels' inside surface, there will be indentification of the composition.

Possibly not being old, automotive industries were better though back in the day at putting them on so there is a far chance but not guaranteed. Now days it must have it on purely for recycling reasons. They usually put it just where I want to put an ejector pin in the tool design

I have just been sent a link to a biker who gives a blow by blow account of making your own mix using acetone etc.
I reckon get it stabilised now (I am on the brink of moving house and hellishly busy) and look at a longer term fix post move.

I'd use something like sikaflex to bond something to the back of the panel. Its flexible and sticks like sh*t to a blanket, we use it for allsorts at work, even bond some fibreglass wind deflectors to truck roofs.

Forget aero tapes 1/ expensive, 2/ very flexible designed for abrasion resistance.

We bond everything with it i've also repaired my boots with it when the stitchings been burnt and patched up my overalls. Its flexible and strong as owt. If you can clamp it and let it dry something else will usually break before it gives. Only trouble is the stuff we use is rebranded and I don't know what number it is but I would guess at 221
