Bike lift hydraulic pump not working

Hi guys, anyone out there into hydraulics?. My Sealey motorcycle lift pump has packed up, just will not lift at all, dead. I have had it off, replaced fluid, blead and purged, but no joy. Looks like it may have to go to an hydraulics expert of which we have none in our town, probably Hull.
Any ideas?.

Could be the non return valve has stuck open, try thumping the body with a rubber mallet, worked on my 12 ton bottle jack after a friend borrowed it and it bounced around in the back of his trailer for miles!

No, the release valve is controlled by a spring loaded pedal

Will give it a try, I don't particularly want to dismantle it, I haven't any seals anyway, althought I don't think this type is rocket science.

Talk to Sealey - they're surprisingly helpful in my experience.

Have done, a 'technician' said if the fluid level is ok and it doesn't work, it needs to go to one of our service centres for overhaul. He didn't seem too familiar with the pumps.

Mine has problems sometimes. Turns out to be the "piston" that forces the fluid has just an O ring to make the seal and it wears / fails. Couple pence part solves problem for me. I think the "bore" might be poorly made on mind hence O rings keep on failing but can't be bothered to dismantle to check !

My engine hoist sometimes fails as if it's dead but it just needs topping up then pumping with the release screw open to get some air out and away it goes again.

The piston on mine has a cup type seal, seems fine though.

Fault found

Took the pump into a specialist Hydraulic firm for investigation, it was found to be the main ram seal [pics attached]. They rang me when sorted but said they did not have the correct seal but fitted the nearest they had and said it should lift ok but may be difficult to drop down as the seal they fitted was very tight and they had to use their press to get the ram back in the closed position for me. Not being familiar with hydraulics I said ok I'll try it. Got home, fitted it wouldn't work at all, found that the release valve was tightened full home with no room to release, and I had to top up with 75ml of oil to get to the correct level. Eventually after adjustments the lift would lift to the max. but as feared it would not drop even when loaded, even with the valve correctly set. Had to remove the pump to get it down. Having issues with them but will see what tomorrow brings. Do any of you guys know where I can get a 2 part seal as in the pics 40mm od 32mm id and 4.8mm section. It seems the 'O' ring fits into a hard outer, presumeably to allow the lift to drop without the drag the 'O' ring alone that they forced in is giving.

As the pics, it is a bit more than just an 'O'ring, I have tins of these.
