biggest hand held mig torch available

Hi, I'm after the biggest handheld mig torch available, using a kempi at 470 amps but the torch isnt long enough to get away from the heat, even though the water cooling is keeping the torch itself relativly cool. Its a 500 amp kempi torch. Any help appriciated.

What do you mean the torch isn't long enough? the hose or maybe the swan neck? Does it have a euro connection?

We use 500-600amp sets running 1.6mm wire. The weapon of choice for us are Tweco 5's , I did a refurb on one here http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/forum/showthread.php?t=12250 Tweco 5's are air cooled though. Do you need water cooling?

I have a Tweco #4 and a Tweco MiniMIG. The MinimIG is very light, similar to the Clarke torches but has coaxial hose.

The #4 is near indestructible. Actually, i had two; both about 30 years old. I sold one one ebay for $110. Looked old but had new liner. Scratched up, stained cable, it still fetched a good price.

Sounds like the Op is talking about heat from the work being a problem. You might be able to get a longer swan neck.

Tino, what's that #5 weight with the heavy cable? Must feel like 5 lbs

Hi, Scott. I think weight will be similar to your no4 . Great torches. I agree almost indestructible, nice and simple to repair. Even after one of the idiots you work with has tried to fix it with a hack saw and insulation tape. (pics below). We have a no3 and its not very different to the no5's the line is a little heavier on the no5. The biggest difference is the swan neck, nice and long, keeps your hands that bit further away from the heat.
