I came across thees on ebay now that is what I call a welding rods but I would need about six of my biggest welder put together to burn it
this is what they are used for
They are held in this cantilever frame arrangement and they are melted into holes in castings, usually ingot moulds. These days ingot moulds are a rarity so I doubt if there is any use any more.
We used to make 10mm stainless for welding Centurion Tank Turrets.
We had a go at these big boys but we only ever made a few for trials.
I used to work as a fettler using a 1500amp arcair unit that burned 1" carbon rods. The unit was as big as a wardrobe and was a sod for burning out diodes on a long shift.
yea i used to use 2 1200A gen sets for when i was doing subarc with 4 tips.
and i have hurd of a 30mm dia rod, this was ment to be the bigest that was made and used. it was used in russa as far as i was told. on some trailer to move a power station
