hi just wondering if anyone can tell me if my clarke mig 220 te can be wire to a normal domestic plug , the person i brought it off used it in a unit that had 32 amp and 16 amp outlets so he put that size plug on it. i dont want to be tripping the electrics or melting the sockets. any help would be good . thanks

I believe you can use a standard 13 amp plug on welders up to 150amp, higher than that, you will need the 16 amp plug or more. As yours has been run on a 16 amp socket, thats what you will need.

you can of course fit a 13amp standard plug, but if you turn the power up past around 150amps, then the 13amp fuse will blow, no big issue, if you rarely if ever weld thicker metals requiring more than 150amp

thanks guys the welder was actually fitted with a 32 amp plug but i only brought it cus it was to good an offer to miss , i only intend on welding stuff like car body panels and chassis
