BGA Automotive parts?

Have any of those in the trade used parts from this lot - https://news.bgautomotive.co.uk/ ?

I need to do bottom arms on the front of my D3 and am dissapointed that the Meyle HD ones have only lasted 5 years but cant really afford Lemforder and these BGA parts are rather cheap... https://www.advancedfactors.co.uk/lr073367-lr075993-bga-rh-control-arm-1472553-p perhaps too cheap? AF seem to suggest they are manufactured in GB which is always nice to support but not at the expense of quality/longevity

There is a standing permanent note registered with the suppliers where I work (I noticed it soon after starting there, though I wasn't familiar with BGA.

The note on our account states "do not offer/supply BGA".

My boss won't use or offer any BGA kit to his customers (typically head gaskets, head sets, head bolts, valves, guides, mains & b/e shells - general engine rebuild stuff. He classifies all their stuff he's seen as ropey, & is particularly unimpressed with their gaskets.

No direct experience myself, but it's quite an indictment for the firm to have a permanent embargo on BGA products.

Autodoc have Lemforder which were original for 210 per arm inc VAT and delivery. I wonder if I just bite the bullet. The Meyle HD are around 150 an arm from AF but thats whats on there and they've lasted 5ish years. Very disappointed with that.

Also need an inner CV boot for the passenger side...! But the driveshaft is pretty much out once you swing the hub out of the way to do the bottom arms!

I’m really surprised that the Meyle HD haven’t lasted, the ones I put on my X5 10 years ago are still good and have done about 90,000 miles.

It's odd. The fluid filled bush that Meyle replace with a solid rubber bush at the back seems fine. But the front bush has totally collapsed. I usually use their stuff happily but am a bit annoyed/perplexed by this short lifespan. Like you, I usually find their stuff pretty decent.

I tend to use Febi , Dephi, or Lemforder on all my (non LR) stuff. Seems to last well, although nothing will last like genuine.

Same as me with those makes really but sometimes price gets in the way a little..

Lemforder were the actual OEM on these arms/bushes I think. As far as I know, the ones I removed were the originals so.would have been about 12 years old at the time. Back then everyone was going on about Meyle HD solid bushes for these arms - what they had on the Range Rover Sport.... so I fitted them expecting more than 5 years. It's the front bush that has failed here whereas the fluid filled rear bushes were the ones that went on the original arms. Maybe I stick with Lemforder - not twice the price for more than twice the time..
Especially as I seem to keep my cars until they fail catastrophically!

I have never used anything Meyle ever, because I feel their logo looks a bit cheap

I also tend to keep mine until they are dead too, but even then I tend to revive them,

Their stuff is ok to be fair. Just disspointed by this though.

Same as me with the die and revive..! I even bought one of my old cars back recently!

I've never used BGA, always thought it sounded trustworthy but I never quite believed it.
I usually go for TRW, lemforder, Delphi, INA or Bosch. I used to like febi but had some suspension arms die within a year once. Replaced with Delphi and no issues.

A new kid on the block for me is schaeffler/ FAG. Really good prices and a sister company of INA . Schaeffler are an OEM manufacturer.

Some of it is luck of the draw.
OEM mercedes engine mounts are often made by Boge. You buy a lemforder one and it just says made in china on it, but a meyle one (allegedly inferior to lemforder) and its made by Boge.
So to some degree it can vary part to part and no one brand is infallible.

That sounds like it's been torqued up with the arm 'hanging' rather than at normal ride height.

I avoid BGA stuff like the plague - been caught out with loads of rocker covers and rocker cover gaskets that leak from day 1 after fitting.

I forgot about TRW, BUT I have a brake cylinder here of theirs that says "Made in Taiwan" on the box

Delphi is now Chinese, and I think INA/Shaeffler/ FAG is under Chinese ownership too.

Will not be anything worth having soon !

Definitely done at ride height when i fitted it. I was very careful to do this as realise the importance of it. I have a four post so it's easy to do it right too. I do most work but occasionally get a local garage to do bits but I can't think of any reason they might have disconnected it and potentially reconnected while hanging.

It wasn't an accusation, more of an observance - I suppose one of the unintended consequences of a solid, or less compliant rear bush could be to push more of the reaction to load onto the smaller front bush, I've no evidence for that, just a thought.

Oh. Don't worry. I didn't take it like that. I'm just perplexed by the failure as I did it by the book. Do Meyle do an OEM option (i.e. fluid filled rear) I wonder?

I’ve been using predominately Meyle components for the past 15 years, in fact I’ll go out of my way to find them as they are usually fit and forget, as good as OE, I think Reb has been unlucky this time.

Maybe Reb has neglected to mention that he uses the Disco off road, and they are not meant for that.

Haha. It's only a temporary hiatus while I rechassis the 110...

Maybe @Ubique has hit on the reason for my failure and getting the rear bush which is at least twice the size of the front, to last longer wears the front faster.
