Hi all. I recently took early retirement from a very much not engineering related careerand to fill my time played more golf than ever and started to teach myself how to use a lathe. My current weapon of choice is a Boxford 280 which can do far more than I am capable of but I am getting there. I also have a Chester 626 mill but have only used it for simple tasks. I cannot weld, yet, tending to leave this to my brother, who can. He was taught by our dad who spent his working life working with steel as a boiler maker, steel erector and fabricator. His gas welds were things of beauty but at 88 he's a bit passed it now. My welding goal is not to achieve profesional qualifications, just to add another skill to my amatuar steel working ambitions.
I have other hobbies and do frequent other forums related to them. I like the way this one doesn't argue politics (unless I'm missing that bit!) and seems to have a little more relaxed feel to it.
