Best way to make this seat.

My grandson has been spoilt again...not by me this time but he needs a seat as he has long legs for his age..

Seems like its about a month to get a seat here and its likely to be around 140 quid now amazon no longer sell them.

I can cut the decals but not sure whats best to fabricate/mould the seat carrier.

Would fibreglass be any good?

White tinted gelcoat.
East Coast Fibreglass or EasyComposites.

As Phillip said. It's a bit of work. Need to make a buck from something like styrofoam, or timber etc. You can shape it with car body filler. Then from that make a fibreglass mould from the buck and then you make the final object from the mould.

Its a trials ebike. Its the start...from Kuberg



This is it with a high seat option. But i am told it takes ages to get one so they are never cheap. £150 mark.

Theres a fb group called trials bikes.
Worth joining and asking on therw for a sh seat. Never bothered with seats for either of mine. Soon a they had the hang of it I got them standing on the pegs.

Trials central forum also may have someonw with a spare

That would be ok if he was older. Currently he just wants to use it to go fast. Obstacles will come later. I spent most of my time stood up on my crossers but this is a mixed bike....

Theoretically he could do with a bigger bike but the power setting increase dramatically...so its a balancing act (excuse the pun)

Not so. Oset are fully adjustable these days. The 16" beta I have has 3 settings slow fast and gets to fast instantly and has a very progressive throttle. The osets let you vary accel speed and throttle I belive with pots.

Can you extend the brackets on the original seat /frame so use the seat he has but just raise it a bit ...with a bit ingenuity you could make it adjustable as the boy grows .....

This is sort of the plan. As its a trials bike mainly , the seat is part of the frame. Integral to the plastics. I need something to be interchangeable. And upgradeable.

I dont have an oset but i think the kuberg does the same. But the bigger bikes have a faster (slow) speed. Giving them a bigger top speed.

Most long range seats are just moulded plastic shaped to suit the "not seat" area and get strapped down.

Some fix to the bolt hole that secures the tank/rear mudguard. Not am option for you.
For ease and speed id knock up a plywood frame scribed to fit the plastics matching the position of the frame under the plastics. Cover with padding and covering of choice and strap it on via nylon flat straps secured to the ply frame.

So the kuberg is like the beta no pots to adjust just 3 speed. Oset are fully adjustable. Far to heavy for my liking though. Lipo conversion make a huge weight saving. Kelly controllers are a common upgrade for customising power delivery.

To be honest I'd just buy a sheet of cheap acrylic and bend it/form it with a heatgun where needed for the shape, then stick the other seat on top.

By the time you have made the former, mold, then made the part, factor your time in and buying one for £150 will be cheaper. What about making it out of allu sheet?

I have seen him out on it in person today. Its not really got to be raised much yet. Its a lot less than it looks in the photo.

It needs to be raised as at the moment the pegs are too close to where he sits. But his legs are too long and its dangerous and hus wobbly legs are throwing him off balance at speed. A full seat would be too high just now anyway so some shaped high density foam would be ok with velcro.

I have considered alu sheet. I am collecting a tv bracket tommorow and have to go straight past the ali place so i will raid their scrap boxes.
