best way to fill door gap

wondering what is the best way to fill this gap or make it look good somehow?



it's a fibreglass mould at the right, glued on...apprehensive about doing any more welding with it there

any ideas?

it's purely for looks, no extra strength needed

Sikaflex or Tiger Seal and run you finger over it to smooth it off. Do it like the professionals

Aye...the 'ears' anyway. you mean remove the trim/mould and fully weld?

Put this project on hold for a bit but got time to get back to it now
I finished up doing little bits at a time so it didnt get too hot next to the fibreglass to try and fill the gap....it's been sitting outside so rusty now, doh!
Dunno if you can see in the pic but it's not smooth, what type of filler would be best to smear across it to smooth it off?

I'd slap a good coat of Zinc 182 or similar on it then just use car body filler, Isopon type stuff to fill the wrinkles.

cheers...just p38? Bit concerned how well a thin layer sticks to a flat surface
Not much knowledge on filler, used 'fibrofil' before to repair a fibreglass skirt, that's all tho

filler sticks great ...but you need to clean that rust off first

if you don't already have some body filler I wouldn't buy P38 as its abit rubbish. U-pol fantastic is much better, as are most others.

get it clean before applying anything , i used to use upol galv x , which was good stuff & it used to stick to plastics as well, dare say theres summit new out probably better. can u get to the rear of the panel where the weld is and give it a good blast of waxoyl because it will rust out at an alarming rate if not treated with something.

Never had any problems with P38 easy sand myself. I tend to use whatever the shop has in and not get hung up on what people say they prefer. I repaired a Corsa rear quarter and used it on that and it's still running round 7 years later not falling off.

There's some P38 easy sand there that my dad must have been using, will have to see if it's still usable tho!

was thinking that, can't get behind it but might try drilling a hole at the top and run the waxoyl (if it will run...something else maybe?) down inside it, then just filler to cover the drill hole..
