best way to do this

ive got a beetle to repair and this is the first proper job i've had to do. Most other has just been small repairs.

I have no time limit but obviously would like to do it quick enough and a good job as it will be getting used as a wedding car.

here are some of the areas needing repaired, as you can see its been done before but will probably take them out and re do them.

do they do repair sections for beetles in that area? if so just cut the knackered areas out weld in the new sections with infill points. i guess your on dub forums of some sort as youl be able to find out whats available and what isnt!

Depends how big and proper a job you want to make it. All those panels are available to buy.

As said you can buy the inner sections and the cross members so it will look alot better then just bent sheet metal.

You could ask on a vw forum and find someone breaking a beetle to get OG repair sections, that is what I would do.

The whole rear floor section can be got from company like vw heritage etc but cost over £100

the cross members are around £70 per side as well

It also looks like you will need some front end panels where the bonnet meets the shell, these panels (the top section only) cannot be brought but you can get complete front inner wings.

Those prices don't sound all that bad to me, but then I'm restoring a car where almost no panels are available. At the end of the day you have to compare how long it will take you to make the repair sections to how you value your time, and if it's on a deadline whether you've even got that much time to spare to be making sections for it. One thing - if it's all pretty much square, try to cut out as little at a time as you can, to give it the least opportunity to shift. And take lots of measurements.

It's not in very good condition (some welded patches) and I had started to smooth off the fuel cap as I was planning to move the tank, sorry.

buy the peices if you can as it would take hours to make them and they still wouldnt look as good unless you are a experienced panelbeater as they look fairly complex curves

they can be done if you have less money than time

take measurements of everything bfore you start and keep checking them as you are welding

not once after you have tacked than again at the end as it is to late once it is all welded up
