Best TIG AC Welder under £2K?

I will probably go with an Oxford Tigmaker - the weight isn't really a problem unless you need portability. They seem to have a pretty good name and are probably easier to repair if they go wrong.

You'll always wish you got an inverter. And feel a bit sore when you pay as much for one of them as a second hand synchrowave.

What is wrong with the Oxfords and why is an inverter better? I really need to know.
I know a used quality make will always be the best bet BUT if it goes bang a week later you will have thrown away a lot of cash!

Check out used quality machines my Lincoln was £5k new but you would have got a huge chunk of change from your £2k for what I paid for it 2nd hand.

Inverters have come along way over the years and as far as tig is concerned I personally think they are better in every way.
Productive ac arc characteristics like harder square waves
Ac frequency settings for tailoring arc width to jobs
Much more settings at your fingertips for precise work like fast pulses
And then you’ve got size, weight, power consumption on top.
Don’t get me wrong i do love a soft wave transformer arc as much of the rest of them but even inverters can allow you to do this now along with many wave types.

They can all go wrong and it can cost you yes but in reality the chances are your second hand top liner will out last your new cheaper machine. I’ve bought loads of second hand units for under your 2k price. I’ve sold every one of them for a profit
I’ve never scapped one.
Caddy’s, mls, lorch, fronius, rehm.
They have all sat on my work shop shelf and all proved there worth.

Lincoln was £5k new

The v205’s can be had for a lot less than that.
5k is Fronius magicwave with Cooler and pedal territory. But saying that a v205 with Cooler is certainly knocking towards the 4K mark.

Oxford's pedal is their own (Tecarc), well built all steel solid bit of kit. I can't fault it.
I have a Tigmaker 270 with cooler and pedal and find the power is awesome but also very controllable.

Any chance you could make a vid of that in operation ...No one has done one yet and I am trying to sell my partner on getting one ...

See it in opo on ali would be nice .....There is nothing on the net about this welder ..It would be nice to see one in operation on thick ali ..But you probably already rate it ...

Get you local supplier.probably Thomas Proctor on the tvte..to let you try one...or see if you can go to york. The factory and try one.
