Best spot weld drill bits?.

My son's on with rebuilding his Peugeot 106 and needs replacement inner wings etc.

Just looking for a recommendation for a decent spot weld drill bit.

Will be turfing out my tools later to see if any survived the Golf but I'm sure they ended up in the bin.

Cheap and disposable vs expensive and long lasting I suppose is the question.

I have a couple of Cobalt spotweld drills that just seem to work. If I had to buy new I would buy them again. The hole cutter type didn’t last long at all

Last ones I got were Dormer and seemed ok, don't buy the Neilson or US Pro as they have a flat on the shaft so they don't fit nicely in the chuck

If your're replacing the panels you wont need spot weld bits,just cut and grind them off,are you saving the outer panels?

I've taken to using the power file to grind away the pot weld on only the panel I'm replacing and not make a hole in the panel I'm keeping.
(not a lot of use unless you have a power file)

We used the Sykes-Pickavant cutters at Rover, they seemed to survive industrial use quite well.

Don't know if there still available, this one must be 40 years old

I got a pack of 10 Duren branded. through local body shop supply company 15 years ago. Bloody brilliant, prefer the drill bits rather than the cutters.

Power file or grinder if can get to the scrap side works well thoigh.
