Best place to get turbo outlet flanges?

Hi,

I've got a 16T turbo that's meant to be for a Volvo 850 T5-R and I'm trying to adapt it to a RWD car, which means clocking it and making a downpipe for it.

It has a 'flat flange' rather than the conical one on the car's stock downpipe. Looks like the one on the right in this image: http://i685.photobucket.com/albums/vv213/gilber33/turbo.jpg

Short of getting an 850 downpipe and chopping the end off, does anyone know where I can get those three-bolt flat flanges in mild steel? Am I just searching for the wrong thing?

Flanges for Volvo TD04 turbos are hard to find.

It might be worth asking from Volvo forums, someone might have machine drawings for this flange and get one custom made.

Try some ware that makes custom exhausts, they have to get them some ware.

Make a paper template and cut one out.
Any engineering shop will be able to make one if you don't fancy cutting one.

The problem is the "lip" that sticks out of the turbo side. I think I can get/make/have made a 3-bolt flat flange of the right I.D. but won't it need to have the 'lip' milled into it in order to seal up?

Maybe I should grind the lip off the turbo outlet and use a flat flange with a gasket. It was a chinese turbo, so it's not like it owes me much.

I would personally take the studs out and weld a v-band flange onto the surface, turbine house weld actually rather nicely as we do loads of them, that way you can clock the turbo anyway you see fit as give you 360degree rotation on the flange.

I've never had one break in the 15 years of doing this kinda stuff

Machine it, cut & weld or just grind the lip off like you said. I cut off a 4-bolt flange and turned a v-band shape directly into the housing for my bike but you have to have a lathe to do that.
