Hi all, just wondering where everybody gets their gas from? Im looking at getting an argon/co2 mix and converting my welder to run on gas, but don't know what's a good price for the gas and where the best place to get it is, ideally if want it delivered to my door if possible, also how.much do you pay for refills in most places?

Briefly, you can either buy disposable bottles or rent a bottle and pay each time you refill it.
Disposables, say from Machine Mart, look cheap initially - about £12 IIRC- but they only give you a few minutes of welding. You can rent a bottle and have it filled from suppliers like BOC or Hobbyweld. The best deal will depend on how much you will be using.
The Volkszone deal is mentioned as being the best value at the moment. There's a separate thread about it. But again, it depends how much gas you will need.
If you give us an idea of what you will be welding (eg. restoring a car, welding gates) people can advise who/what they use.

Thanks for posting that link, Jordan. I hadn't seen that company before.
One thing I struggle to understand is the bottle size and the compression. It makes a like for like comparison difficult for me. For example, how many minutes welding would you get out of 10 litres of Argon 5 filled at 200 bar?
Is there an easy formula to calculate it?
They are quite local so I might give them a try.
edit: Just found a post by Luke which explains with this example:
"Bottle volume multiplied by fill pressure gives the amount of gas-
9l x 50 bar = 450 litres,
2l x 230 bar = 460 litres"
Usual setting is 10 litres a minute, I believe, so 9l at 50 bar = 45mins, and so on.
