need some arc welding rods to weld some 4-5 mm brackets to my trike frame. whats the rule of thumb for working out which rods to use size wise & also whats the best make to use. i,ve only tried the cheap ones & they were rubbish.is there somebody on the net who sells them as i can,t find anybody local. cheers gramps.

I'd go with 2.5mm 6013's.

I have never used sif electrodes, they do have a good reputation, they'd be a lot better than ebay cheapo's.
I've had good success with 6013's esp when your snotting up 2 slightly diffo types of steel, you can wind the amps up more too without dripping on verticals, penetration is lower so they are good on sheet.
I'd suggest a larger box of 2.5's and a smaller box of 3.2's if your doing trike stuff.
If you've never used them before burn a couple of dozen up on some scrap.
